A court in New York sentenced the former financial chief of Donald Trump's business empire to five months in prison. The 76-year-old all Weisselberg was found guilty of meinheid after lying to the ex-US president during the fraud process. In March, Weisselberg already announced guilt in two cases of mone. The punishment for his admission of guilt was five months in prison, although up to seven years in prison would have been possible.
From 2005 to 2021,Weisselberg was primarily responsible for the finances of Trump's company. Before that, he was already in prison for aid for tax fraud. The latest procedure against Weisselberg referred to the accusation that Trump had artificially inflated the assets of the family real estate empire over the years in order to obtain better credit and insurance conditions.
In a civil process, Trump was sentenced to a penalty of over $ 350 million for business fraud, which he had to pay to the state treasury. He appealed that required a preliminary payment of $ 175 million. Weisselberg made stressful statements against Trump's company, but did not personally link the former president to crimes.
