Mathewunder: Young talents excellent at the federal competition
A spectacular day for the little math genius! The Federal Mathematics competition chose its bright winners in 2023! In Daun, a picturesque town in Rhineland-Palatinate, the best talents were honored in a glamorous ceremony. But what exactly is the federal competition mathematics? A competition that attracts Germany's smartest heads!
A total of 1,800 young mathematics enthusiasts demonstrated their skills - in remarkable three rounds! From December 2022 to February 2024, the participants fought bravely against tricky tasks that themselves would sweat even experienced mathematicians. The best twelve were now celebrated at a grandiose award ceremony on September 26th.

The cheers were great, because eight mathetalents were allowed to secure the title of the federal winner for the first time: Philippos Dimitriou (Freising), Dmitrii Galatenko (Göttingen), Benjamin Graf (Naila), Johannes Raitz von Frentz (Lehrte), Constantin Torp (Bremen), Philip Trebst (Cologne), Réka Amélie Wagener (Siegen) and Antonia Zerbs (Munich) - their breakthrough is sensational!There was even more luck for Torben Frederik Grabbel (Hamburg), Linus Hillenherms (Cologne), Juri Kaganskiy (Berlin) and Lars Krabbenhöft (Höchstadt), who triumphed for the second time. And the really big stars? Oliver Mettin Cairos (Berlin), Alexander Koblbauer (Simbach a. Inn) and Henrik Schlüter (Munich) celebrated their third title, while Boldiszár Mann (Essen) blends in with an incredible fourth victory in a row!

The solemn award at the Junior Uni Daun was a moment full of pride and thrills! Under thunderous applause, the award winners received certificates, individual winning photos and the congratulations from experts and mentors. They even received the invitation to a research stay at the Max Planck Institute and cash prizes from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research before the festival!
But what makes this competition so special? “The Federal Competition Mathematics is an incredible springboard for young talents,“ according to the organizers of education and talent. Here, pupils of all grades can demonstrate and develop their mathematical skills. Tricky tasks? They are standard here!
and while the competition is still in full swing-the second round of the ongoing competition has already started-all math fans can look forward to the next round in December 2024! An exciting year for young mathematics is imminent!
