Memory of Holocaust victims in Marzahn-Hellersdorf: Still commemoration and stations on January 27, 2024
On Saturday, January 27, 2024, in Marzahn-Hellersdorf it will be commemorated in various locations of the victims of the Nazi terror. This date, January 27, was declared the memorial day of the victims of the Holocaust worldwide, as the Auschwitz concentration camp was released from the Red Army in 1945. On the occasion of this commemoration day and in view of increasing right-wing activities and anti-Semitic incidents in Marzahn-Hellersdorf, the alliance for democracy and tolerance as well as the democratic parties in the district are commemorating the crimes of National Socialist Germany. With a silent memory of different stations in the district, the victims of the Nazi terror are intended.
Historical responsibility for the crimes of the Nazi regime is emphasized and at the same time the increase in right activities and anti-Semitic incidents in Marzahn-Hellersdorf is convicted. According to the alliance, democratic society lives from diversity and respect, for which it must be admitted.
The memorial events take place at different locations in the district, starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m. During the events, the victims of euthanasia and queer victims of the Nazi terror are also reminded. Participants who belong to right -wing parties or organizations or appear through inhumane statements are excluded from the commemorations.
