Danish exhibition on urban development in Berlin opened

On January 12, 2024, the exhibition “Liveable City-28 x urban development in Denmark” was opened in the tourist information near the Kienberg Park. This exhibition shows successful examples of urban development from all over Denmark and was developed by the Royal Danish embassy in cooperation with the Danish Institute for Urban Planning. The opening was opened by the district councilor Stefan Bley, who also took part in a guided bike tour of the ADFC from the Danish embassy in Berlin-Tiergarten to Marzahn.

Birgitte Tovborg-Jensen and Paul Robin Greiner from the Danish embassy presented the exhibition and its origin. The exhibition shows, among other things, converted social housing districts with places for encounter and integration, bike paths especially for children and formerly abandoned factory halls, which were filled with new life thanks to creative civic engagements. The exhibition consists of recycling materials and includes interviews and cinematic impressions of the projects. The exhibition should serve as a suggestion for discussion about what makes a city worth living in and who can participate.

At the opening, keynote lectures were also organized by various organizations such as Infravelo and Paper Planes e.V., which informed about cycling fast connections in Berlin and the Radbahn Berlin project. Furthermore, there was talk of sustainable topics such as the construction of a daycare center, sustainable tourism and the use of bicycles. The musical framework was designed by Jonas Müller on the wing.

The exhibition is accessible to visitors from January 13th to February 29, 2024.

Overall, the exhibition "Livoid city - 28 x urban development in Denmark" represents an interesting insight into successful urban development projects in Denmark and could also be of great interest for German urban planners and interested parties. The examples presented could also serve as inspiration for local urban development projects.
