Berlin starts digital application for residential rights: now easier than ever!

From Monday, September 30, 2024,Berlin will present a new online service for the application for residential authorization and income certificate. This initiative should not only relieve the citizens, but also improve the appointment situation in the citizens' offices. By submitting applications from 12:00 p.m., access to funded living space is significantly easier. The Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living announces that this step will also reduce the workload of the citizens' offices.
The residential authorization certificate and the income certificate are crucial documents in order to receive access to affordable living space. The digital process eliminates bureaucratic obstacles and the processing times are shortened. Citizens now have the opportunity to submit their applications online at any time and from anywhere. A newly introduced regulation enables households with medium -sized incomes access to subsidized living space. The regular submission of the income certificate is of great importance, especially for tenants who live in apartments with housing funding from 2015. The online application assistant is based on the "ICT base service digital application" of the Senate Chancellery in order to efficiently digitize application processes. However, it is important that all the necessary documents are submitted to be fully submitted to ensure rapid processing.
