On June 6, 2024, the author Thorsten Nagelschmidt will read out from his novel "Work" as part of "Berlin reads a book" in the district central library Mark Twain in Berlin. The book is considered the "first major Berlin novel of the 21st century" And tells of people who work on Berlin night. The reading is moderated by Wlada Kolosowa, a writer and journalist, whose book "The Hausmann" has already been selected for "Berlin reads a book".
The reading takes place as part of an action week, which lasts from May 26 to June 9, 2024. In “work”, various professions and their importance in the nightly city landscape of Berlin are illuminated, from taxi drivers to drug dealers to emergency paramedics. The novel has been published by S. Fischer and focuses on the people who keep the city going at night.
Thorsten Nagelschmidt is not only a book author, but also graphic artist, singer, guitarist and copywriter of the punk/alternative rock band Muff Potter. Wlada Kolosowa is also a versatile artist and journalist who was already represented with her works at "Berlin reads a book".
