New tenant couple brings a breath of fresh air to the Hercules terraces!
The Hercules terraces in the Wilhelmshöhe Bergpark have a new operator: Daniela and Karsten Lichtenberg take over the catering and have extensive experience in the event catering and in the operation of outdoor pool bistros. hna reported that the restaurateur was put back into operation in February 2025 after technology and renovation work. The two keywords "change" and "tradition" are often used in this context, since the Lichtenbergs took over the Hercules terraces after the resignation of the previous operator Dennis Kolle.
At their first tour, the new tenants were surprised with 600 seats the size of the restaurant. In order to ensure continuity, the existing staff, including the manager, chef and Oberkellner, will be preserved. The team consists of ten permanent and 20 temporary help. The Lichtenbergs are planning to tailor the gastronomic offer to the needs of a classic excursion voice, with a down -to -earth tavern kitchen and a selection of cakes.

The website of the Hercules-Terrassen illuminates the historical development of the park, which began in the 18th century. The work on the old winter box, a water collection basin, started in 1696 when Landgrave Karl traveled to Italy to meet the master builder Francesco Gueriero. In 1701 Gueriero visited the site, and a year later a contract was signed that formed the basis for the impressive water features.
The water features made of tuff stone are still an extraordinary spectacle. Water flows over the cascades, the Steinhöfer waterfall, the Teufelsbrücke and the aqueduct into the castle pond. These fascinating water features take place every Wednesday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. every Wednesday and Sunday.
