Dogs Welcome: Lichtenberg is looking for sponsors for new freewheeling areas
enthusiasm for new dog free area in Lichtenberg is growing
In Lichtenberg, specifically in Gürtelstraße, a new dog free area is being built, which is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2024 . Although the project is still in the construction phase, a sponsorship for the area is already being sought. This opportunity to shape and maintain the area could be taken over by dog clubs or private animal lovers.
The request for a godmother is a sign of the commitment of the municipality to create more freedom for dogs and their owners. This is not only a measure to improve the quality of life for the four -legged friends, but also to promote social exchange among the citizens of Lichtenberg. According to the district councilor for traffic, green spaces, order, environment and nature conservation, Filiz Keküllüoğlu (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) , the new green area "will offer people and their dogs another place to relax and let off steam".
The sponsorship not only includes the care and maintenance of the area, but also the opportunity to contribute your own ideas with the district office. In addition to setting up signs with rules of conduct, the sponsors can even plant and design part of the site. This promotes not only the personal responsibility of the dog owners, but also a stronger sense of community among the residents.
Additional support comes from the district office, which will take care of waste disposal and will provide enough wastebasket and benches. The green space office is responsible for regular care such as mowing the lawn and eliminating autumn leaves. Nevertheless, the responsibility for the dog free area remains primarily with the district office, especially when it comes to maintaining the trees and general cleanliness.
Interested parties who want to get involved in a sponsorship can send an email to bzstrinordumver@lichtenberg.berlin.de . The Filiz Keküllüoğlu team is also available by phone at (030) 90296-4201.
The initiative for creating such a facility illustrates how important green spaces and recreation rooms are living for urban and their owners. The active inclusion of the community creates a sustainable and lively environment for everyone, which benefits the still growing focus on species -appropriate animal husbandry and responsible dog keeping.
