Femicides in Berlin: District Office Lichtenberg condemns violence against women
The district office Lichtenberg condemns the recently committed violence against women with great dismay. A tragic female in which a man killed a woman because of her gender also shook the residents in Lichtenberg. The alarming numbers show that in Berlin alone in 2024 28 women were victims of fatal violence by men.
In a clear statement, the Lichtenberg district office emphasized that violence must not be tolerated in any form. It is important to take a close look as a society and to give the victims of unrestricted faith instead of trivializing violence or questioning the victims. Political measures to create and secure help structures play a crucial role here.
The Berlin State Working Group of the Women's and Equal Opportunities Officer has also taken a position on this topic, the explanation of which can be found on the website of the Lichtenberger representatives. On November 25, 2024, the International Day will take place to eliminate violence against women and girls. In Berlin, a large demonstration with the motto "Let us live (non -violent) - Istanbul Convention now implement!" planned.
The district office Lichtenberg will take part in various promotions as part of this day of action, including the raging of the flag of the campaign day in front of the Lichtenberger town hall on November 18, 2024 to initiate the Lichtenberger Week against violence. It is urgently needed to stand together against any form of violence and discrimination.
