Campus for democracy: Information evening on the development plan procedure

The Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living and the Lichtenberg district office invite interested parties to an information evening on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the campus for democracy. The location management "Campus for Democracy" conducts the event as part of the early participation to the development plan procedure 11-80, which takes place in House 7 (access to the Federal Archives/exhibition "Insight into the Secret", Room 427, 4th).

The district councilor for urban development, building and facility management, Camilla Schuler (Die Linke), emphasizes the historical importance of the former Ministry of State Security of the GDR (MfS) and invites interested parties from Lichtenberg, Berlin and the whole world to actively participate in the participation process and help shape the campus for democracy.

The planning area for the development plan procedure 11-80 extends between Ruschestraße, Normannenstraße, Magdalenenstraße and Frankfurter Allee and currently houses various uses such as the tax office, a medical center, residential building, memory-cultural facilities and an archive.

The goal of the procedure is to secure the renovation goals and the implementation of the guiding principle "Campus for Democracy" for the entire block. Furthermore, building law is to be created for a new construction of the Federal Archives for the Stasi documents, whereby the Federal Archives support the information event by providing premises.

Overall, the event offers an important opportunity for citizens to actively participate in the design of their district and to appreciate the historical importance of the location.

A table with further information on the various uses in the planning area could offer additional insights into the variety of current uses:
