State government of Lower Saxony gives the green light for destructive gas bores in front of Borkum despite protest

This article reveals that the state government of Lower Saxony, under the pressure of the Dutch Group One-Dyas, has approved the construction of a nautical cable for the energy supply of a gas boring platform in front of Borkum. This leads to the impending destruction of protected reefs in the North Sea. Despite the contradiction between environmental protection organizations and a citizens' initiative, the government and gas companies continue their plans. The well-known threats of damages of one-dyas raise questions about the legality of the approval procedure. The organizations announce that they are legally action against the project. State government of Lower Saxony gives the green light for destructive gas bores in front of Borkum despite protest

Environmental alliance is planning further steps against the destruction of protected reefs from Borkum by gas bores

The state government of Lower Saxony has given the green light for the destruction of protected reefs in front of Borkum in the course of gas bores by the Dutch Group of One-Dya. The Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation (NLWKN) has approved the construction of a nautical cabinet for the energy supply of the drilling platform. Although the German Environmental Aid (DUH), the BUND Lower Saxony and the Citizens' Initiative had objected to clean air East Frisia to prevent the permanent destruction of the reefs, the decision was made in favor of gas drilling. The environmental alliance now announces further legal steps to stop the project.

In a secret letter from One-Dyas to the state government, damages were expressed in order to exert pressure and to promote the approval for gas funding. The state government apparently gave up this illegitimate influence and thus provides the profits of the fossil group to protect the North Sea and the people on the islands. The DUH, the federal government and the citizens' initiative are determined to exploit all legal means to stop the unnecessary project.

The destruction of the protected reefs in front of Borkum is viewed as a disaster for the North Sea and the Wadden Sea. The planned gas funding only serves the profits of the group and is completely unnecessary for the security of supply. One-Dyas has held back important documents to prevent careful review. This is another reason for the legal steps of the environmental alliance to protect the North Sea and the islands.

The gas bores and the laying of the cable lead to the irrevocable destruction of reefs worth protecting. Nevertheless, the state government has given in to influence the fossil group. In view of the increase in sea level, species death and climate catastrophe, it is irresponsible to start new gas production in the North Sea for 35 years. People on the islands and protected species such as gray seal and porpoise are the victims of this decision. The environmental alliance has no choice but to exploit the legal process against this nonsensical project.

background:

The DUH published a secret letter from One-Dyas to the state government, in which the group announced damages and complaints, should not be granted approval for gas funding. Prime Minister Weil assured the group to do everything to allow gas drilling as soon as possible. This causes the suspicion that the approval process has not expired.
