Curiosities on the set of three hazelnuts for Cinderella!

The cult film "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella" captivates millions of viewers every year and ensures a nostalgic television experience. During a performance on the MDR talk show "Riverboat", the leading actor Pavel Trávníček (74), who plays the prince, unveiled amazing and bizarre anecdotes about the filming of the 1973 classic. Initially, it was planned to take the recordings in summer, but director Václav Vorlíček († 88) spontaneously decided on winter scenes. The big problem: there was no snow! In order to generate winter mood, styrofoam elements and fish flour were used, which caused great discomfort, especially among animal co-stars. Trávníček reports with a smile: "A co-star even said: 'That stinks worse than me, I don't play here'," which describes the chaotic filming, as reported.

difficulties on the set

The challenges on the set did not stop here. After initial problems with the inappropriate film material, which was sensitive to light, Trávníček even got into trouble at the border. A customs officer suspected the drug smuggling - a misunderstanding that could only be clarified after long explanations. On the set, too, filming was anything but smooth. The actor Jan Libíček († 42), who played the role of the preceptor, had often fallen into short sleep during the infamous ball scene, which accompanied the chaotic atmosphere of the recordings. Trávníček's memory of this is commented on by moderator Kim Fisher (55) with a joke: "I will never be able to watch the film again without thinking about fish smell." The mandatory filming and the curious experiences give a surprising insight into the creation of a film that is an indispensable part of the Christmas season in many European countries.

Pavel Trávníček is not only known for his role in "Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella", but also has a long career with over 70 film and TV projects in Czechoslovakia and Germany. His versatility shows in the course of his career, in which he played numerous leading roles in fairy tale films, as reported on Wikipedia .
