Consequences and responsibilities: Does the boss of the Berlin bathrooms have to worry about his job?
Title: Berlin bathrooms: Conditions remain a hot topic - debates about consequences and responsibilities broke
subtitle: Job of the bathing boss Johannes Kleinsorg in danger?
Even after the warmest weekend of the year so far, the Berlin baths and the conditions there are still a hotly discussed topic. While the obligation to identify the ID already applies, the introduction of video surveillance on some entrances is now in discussion. But are all the problems really solved? The question of the consequences and responsibilities is becoming increasingly important.
During a tour in the Prinzenbad, which was accompanied by the ruling mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) and the interior and folder Iris Spranger (SPD), the mood was tense. However, not between the two politicians who obviously do well with each other, but between Senator Spranger and Bäder boss Johannes Kleinsorg. There seems to be a tense relationship between the two.
During the tour, Spranger is said to have reacted clashes that Kleinsorg did not know how many visitors fit in the Prinzenbad. In view of the long discussions about violence in the baths and possible solutions, this answer was not acceptable, said Spranger. The question is why Kleinsorg did not take any effective measures on his own.
The question of whether Johannes Kleinsorg has to worry about his job is currently not yet possible. Kleinsorg was appointed head of the Berlin baths in September 2019 and his contract was extended prematurely in December 2021 until August 31, 2027. It remains open whether a new decision would be made in view of the current incidents.
If Iris Spranger has no confidence in his skills to cope with the crisis, she has to act. According to the participation report of the Berlin Senate, Kleinsorg earned 244,000 euros annually in 2021.
In the black and red coalition, you will be satisfied with the procedure of Wegner and Spranger. CDU interior politician Burkard Dregger expressed a positive statement about promenade, especially because it was no longer bound by "insane captivation", which he meant the concerns of the former SPD partners Greens and Left against a harder.
As an example, Dregger led the Green politician Monika Herrmann, who complained about seven police cars at the Kreuzberg Prinzenbad, while in their opinion they did not go against false parkers on the bike path. In fact, the police were in use because of a fight in the bathroom and not because of false parking.
The left-wing MP Franziska Brychcy also spoke up on the pool incidents via Twitter and referred to an article from the Netzpolitik.org. Accordingly, the Berlin data protection authority wants to examine the measures of the Senate. The data protection officer Meike Kemp confirmed that it should be checked whether video surveillance or an obligation to identify was suitable, necessary and appropriate measures to ensure safety in the outdoor pools. It must also be thought about mild measures such as the strengthening of the security personnel, de -escalation team, limitation of the number of bathers or safety -promoting design of the outdoor pool area.
Franziska Brychcy also brought the idea of social work instead of repression. The SPD, on the other hand, does not see the question in this either-or context. According to the domestic spokesman Martin Matz, both are necessary: repression and prevention.
Overall, the situation around the Berlin baths remains tense in view of the latest incidents. The question of the consequences and responsibilities will continue to be discussed, and the future of the bathing director Johannes Kleinsorg is initially uncertain. The different political camps have different ideas of adequate solutions, while the data protection authority wants to examine the measures of the Senate. It remains to be seen how the situation will be further developed and what measures are ultimately taken.
