Kieztag in Charlottenburg: dispose of furniture and find treasures!

Schneppenhorstweg, Charlottenburg-Nord, Berlin, Deutschland - On July 2, 2025, another neighborhood day of the Berlin city cleaning (BSR) will take place in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf. From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., citizens can hand over their old furniture, carpets, mattresses, electrical appliances and old textiles to disposal from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The event is organized by the BSR and Deutsche Wohnen department for sustainable development (SBNE). The aim of the neighborhood day is to offer a convenient way to dispose of bulky waste and at the same time to promote environmentally friendly exchange of objects. The BSR informs that at these events there will also be a exchange market for well -preserved items on which citizens can find new treasures that have been given by others.

At the neighborhood days, not only broken and old objects can be disposed of. If things are no longer needed, the participants have the opportunity to offer them in the exchange and gib market. Here, for example, board games, toys, vases, dishes, bicycles and small furniture can be exchanged. Objects that have not been taken are inserted into the Re-FROUS cycle via the still mall, the BSR used goods carpet. During the Kieztag, the experts of the BSR are also available for questions about waste separation and waste avoidance, as bsr.de reported.

Important information on delivery

The BSR points out that only the specified objects are accepted. Exclusion criteria include construction waste, cast bath tubs, car tires, batteries and liquid pollutants. The waste mentioned in advance may only be handed over directly to the BSR during the event to avoid illegal waste disposal. After the Kieztag, further dates are planned for the citizens:

  • 9. July 2025 - Nikolsburger Platz, Wilmersdorf
  • 22. September 2025-Schneppenhorstweg, Charlottenburg-Nord

sustainable development as a goal

The neighborhood days are part of a wider approach to promoting sustainable development in Berlin. Education for sustainable development (BNE) has developed into a central topic since the 1990s and is part of the national action plan. In Berlin, people of all ages are to be able to develop responsible and sustainable lifestyles. Historical projects of environmental administration are an example of the implementation of these goals. The initiative is supported by the SBNE, which among other things also presents the SBNE separator. This can be requested free of charge to support sustainable events in public spaces, such as berlin.de

Overall, the event on July 2, 2025 shows how important it is to take responsibility for our environment and to integrate sustainable solutions into everyday life. Through actions such as the neighborhood day, the organizers raise awareness of their own joint responsibility towards nature, people and future generations.
