Carnival of Cultures 2025: Colorful spectacle in Berlin awaited!

The Carnival of Cultures, a colorful and diverse spectacle, takes place in Berlin from June 6th to 9th, 2025. The festive occasion will be held this year at Blucherplatz in Kreuzberg, the highlight of the large parade on Pentecost Sunday, June 8th. The move starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Frankfurter Allee / Proskauer Straße intersection and ends around 7:00 p.m. on Karl-Marx-Allee / Berolina Straße. This approximately three -kilometer route attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year and promises an unforgettable experience for all participants.

A total of 68 groups with over 4,000 actors are expected, including 13 teams that take part for the first time. Over 22 of the groups consist only of Berliners. Last year, around 1.1 million people visited this solemnity, and similar figures from around 650,000 spectators will only be forecast for the move for the coming year. The event has its roots in 1996, when it was launched to set a sign of diversity and peaceful coexistence, in response to racism and discrimination.

diverse program

The street festival in Kreuzberg is not only a place for the parade, but also offers an extensive program of music, dance and theater performances as well as political discussion groups and creative workshops. Around 830 artists will contribute to the help of the festival. Visitors can look forward to around 350 stands that offer handicrafts, information as well as food and drinks. The event promotes intercultural exchange and is a safe space for people of all sexes, sexual orientations and nationalities. In addition, attention is paid to environmental awareness by propagating waste and gap in glass bottles.

A special highlight is the children's carnival on Saturday, which has special programs for youngest visitors. For all celebrations, there is also the party series "Karneval de Funk", which creates an exuberant atmosphere with funky rhythms and Latin beats. For the first time, the move is moved to Frankfurter Allee due to construction work, which offers an exciting change.

security concept and organization

The security concept for the carnival of cultures was comprehensively adapted. On the move day, around 1,300 police officers will be on site to ensure the safety of the participants and spectators. A Johanniter medical service will also be available. Forbidden objects such as bicycles, large bags, glass bottles, alcoholic drinks, weapons and pyrotechnic objects are strictly prohibited.

The event is financed by the state of Berlin, sponsors as well as stand fees and donations. A total budget of around 2.5 million euros will be estimated for 2025, with the Berlin Senate contributing 1.4 million euros. The event not only symbolizes a festival of cultures, but also a protest against intolerance by focusing on responsibility for respectful use of one another.

The Carnival of Cultures in Berlin is therefore much more than just a festival - it is a living sign for diversity, love and intercultural exchange that attracts numerous people every year.
