Fight for apartment in Berlin-Reinickendorf: 84-year-old before eviction
In the district court of Wedding, almost 50 people gathered, including neighbors and fellow campaigners, to pursue the trial against 84-year-old Manfred Moslehner. Manne, as he is called, is about to evacuate the house in which he spent his whole life. An investor wants to modernize the settlement and make profit from it, which led to the eviction lawsuit against Manne.
The Situation has led to a long conflict with the tenants that defend themselves against the investor's modernization plans. Many of the long -standing residents have already died and their houses have been successfully modernized and resold. Manne refused to accept the modernization work in his house, out of worry that he could lose his home if he had to move out.
The judge is concerned during the trial and asks whether there is still a way to reach an agreement instead of making a tough judgment. The decision could be made in the next week and Manne will be confronted with an uncertain future. Despite offered implementing apartments nearby, he rejects to leave his home.
However, there is still a certain hope of an alternative solution, since a member of the Bundestag, Canan Bayram from the Greens, tries to mediate between the investor and the tenant. The decision about Manfred Moslehner's future is now in the hands of the judiciary, while the community and prominent supporters are trying to find a humane solution.
