Young people on the way to self-employment: new living space project!
Young people on the way to self-employment: new living space project!
An important initiative to support young people in Berlin has been successfully implemented since 2018. The Gesobau and the Reinickendorf youth welfare office have extended their cooperation to provide living space for young people from youth welfare. Every year, Gesobau provides five apartments that are specially intended for young people who were able to show personal responsibility and everyday coping with their help.
The youth councilor Alexander Ewers (SPD) emphasizes the importance of this cooperation because it facilitates the transition to independence to the young people. Helene Böhm, head of Gesobau's social and district management, also emphasizes the need for this support for disadvantaged young people. The cooperation is continuously checked and extended every two years to ensure access to your own living space.
expansion of cooperation
In 2024, Gesobau will also offer the youth welfare office Pankow up to five apartments that are aimed at Careleaver. These young adults who are released from the youth welfare system can apply for an unlimited and regular lease. The prerequisite is that you are of legal age and can prove a socially adequate rental behavior. Vocational and training prospects as well as a recommendation of the youth welfare office are also necessary.
In order to optimize the support, fixed contacts of Gesobau and youth welfare office are named for the first rent space. Rona Tietje, district councilor, emphasizes how important your own four walls are for the independence and personal responsibility of young people. Helene Böhm emphasizes the role of Gesobau, which is supported by young people on the Berlin housing market.
comprehensive support for Careleaver
The offer is aimed at adult young people who come from foster families or youth welfare. Especially between the ages of 16 and 21, many young people rely on targeted aftercare. For this purpose, the KJHV in Berlin-Spandau provides places for inpatient transitional care in order to facilitate integration into society and to support young people in finding their own living space. The support also includes help with appointments and social pedagogical support, which is adapted as desired and needs.
The concept is intended to promote the emotional and social competence of young people and strengthen them in their decision -making and their sense of responsibility. Another aspect is the active participation of young people in decision -making processes. The offers also include support in professional matters, social integration and in dealing with finances.
These measures are crucial for the success of young people on their way to self-employment and contribute to developing sustainable life and future prospects. The implementation of programs such as the residential license, which is financed by the KJSH Foundation, rounds off the comprehensive range of support.
