Iran attacks Israel: Scholz reacts clearly

Chancellor Olaf Scholz clearly reacted to the Iranian attack on Israel, who reached him to China during his flight. The feared escalation in the Middle East became a reality when Israel was exposed to severe air strikes. Scholz and his advisors were aware that Iran could strike while the Chancellor was traveling. The clear signs of the upcoming threat let the situation escalate.

The Chancellor condemned the attacks on Israel with all the sharpness when he arrived in Chongqing and described them as unacceptable and incomprehensible. Despite the escalation, Scholz continued his planned visit to China. The Bundeswehr, which is present in the region, does not provide direct military support for Israel.

Scholz planned meeting in Beijing with the Chinese head of state Xi Jinping in order to obtain a clear conviction of the attack on the part of China. The Chancellor emphasized the warning to everyone, especially Iran, before a further procedure in this sense. The trip to China was overshadowed by the tense situation in the Middle East, and Scholz placed hopes for the support and conviction of Iran by China.
