International solidarity: ver.di conference 2024 on working conditions

The world of unions will be turned upside down on October 8 and 9, 2024 in the heart of Berlin! Under the exciting motto "International- solidarity- strong: trade union work along the value chain and supply chains", the United Service Union (ver.di) gathers people who work for better working conditions. This third international conference will be a truly global event in which works councils and trade unionists from countries such as Brazil, South Africa, India and Bangladesh arrive to exchange their valuable experiences!

This spectacle is opened by the sizes in the trade union: Silke Zimmer , the trading policy access person from ver.di, Michae Meier , who as head of the International Cooperation of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and the dynamic Brazilian trade unionist Mara Lira . "It is just fantastic that we have employees from all over the world for the third time to learn from each other," says Silke Zimmer enthusiastically. This time even participants from three completely new countries are added - what a sign of global solidarity!

A highlight of the conference is the address of Frank Werneke , the chairman of ver.di, followed by Dr. Klaus Schäfer from the BGHW and Mathias Bolton from University Global. These voices of the change will not only inspire, but also stimulate the challenges that workers meet worldwide.

But that's not all! Two impressive exhibitions will accompany the conference. The first shows the working conditions along the 'Orangen' supply chain in Brazil and Germany, while the second deals with the 'Textile supply chain' in Bangladesh and India. Here we can expect a deep insight into the realities of life of the workers who create our products for us. A true key experience for everyone present!
