Inge German crown high school celebrates its way into the Wilhelmsruh substation

The school community of the Inge German crown school can finally breathe a sigh of relief, since the interim school location near the Wilhelmsruh S-Bahn station was opened in Berlin. The former high school at the EuropaSportpark has now moved into its provisional location in the Wilhelmsruh substation and the solemn naming as an Inge German crown high school was celebrated.

The industrial monument, which serves as a temporary school, was renovated between 2007 and 2009 and converted into a modern educational location. Despite its indoor character, the building offers generous rooms for specialist classes, music and natural sciences as well as social activities. The renaming of the school into Inge-German crown school symbolizes the values ​​that the namesake-a Holocaust survivor and committed publicist-has represented: democracy, freedom and dignity of every person.

The Senator for Education, Youth and Family, Katharina Günther-Lüsch, emphasizes the importance of the new school location and praises the linking of modern teaching methods with basic social values. By renaming the connection with the ideals of Inge Deutschkron, which sets a strong sign of tolerance and responsibility.

The Senator of Economic Affairs, Energy and Companies, Franziska Giffey, recognizes the school as a symbol of courage and determination. Thanks to the rapid decision and implementation of the move, the school community was quickly able to enter a new chapter in school history. The district councilor Jörn Pasternack emphasizes the successful transformation of the listed building into a modern educational location that preserves the historical importance of the place.

The Inge German crown high school is an innovative solution that does justice to the needs of education of the students: inside. The preliminary move enables optimal learning conditions during the renovation of the main location on Kniprodestrasse. Sports activities are guaranteed by a temporary solution until a permanent sports facility is available.

The high school at the Europa Sportpark, which serves as a temporary home, is looking forward to a comprehensive renovation that is scheduled to begin in autumn 2024. The planned measures should upgrade the school in the long term and offer the students: inside and teachers offer improved framework conditions.
