Illegal shishattabak workshop in Berlin-Neukölln uncovered: counterfeits, spoiled rooms and enormous tax damage

On Thursday, more than 30 emergency services carried out by customs, including the tax investigation and the KEV, together with the Neuköllner Ordnungsamt and the police, local controls in Berlin-Neukölln. A total of twelve shops, cafés and tobacco sales shops were examined. The new district councilor and deputy district mayor Gerrit Kringel also took part in the association missions to get an overview.

The mission was successful, a large number of illegal goods and numerous violations of commercial law were found. People were arrested and several criminal proceedings were initiated. One of the most spectacular finds was a shishattabak kitchen in a shabby basement. Here tobacco was punched and mixed under unsanitary conditions. The whole thing took place between dust, dirt, loose plaster and sewage pipes. Guests visiting this restaurant could not guess what they were in the lungs here. The exact amount of the tax damage is not yet known, the investigation is underway.

A total of 95 kilograms of tobacco, nine liters of inadmissible and fake e-shishas and liquids were confiscated in the controls. The tobacco has a value of several ten thousand euros. Illegal gambling machines that did not correspond to the guidelines were also discovered.

It should be emphasized that the authorities would have liked a really good balance, namely nothing to find, since this would mean that everyone would adhere to the laws. Unfortunately, this is not the case, because numerous violations and illegal machinations were uncovered during the controls. Overall, the yield was impressive and shows how important such controls are in order to act against crime and violations of the law. The controls continue to continue to ensure the security and compliance with the laws in the region.
