IGVCE mobilizes: rally against impending job cuts in Guben
An indescribable shock for Indorama's workers in Guben! The managing director made a shocking announcement in the last week: 210 jobs should be omitted! The anger and despair among employees are huge. The IGBCE chemical union is determined not to simply accept this massive job cuts.
On Monday, October 7th, at 1:30 p.m., the workers concerned gather in front of the works gate on Forster Straße to express their protest loudly. "This is a slap in the face for everyone!" Ramona Weiland, the works council chairwoman of Indorama Guben, is outraged. The injustice that is impressed by the employees cannot be ignored!
collective bargaining and breach of contract
Almost absurd, because in Berlin the collective bargaining about the entry of Indorama in the better plastic area collective agreement Berlin-Brandenburg (AKB), the entrepreneur falls into the open knife with such a brutal decision! The management recently promised to transfer the company to the more lucrative chemistry tariff, but then the sudden termination of over two thirds of the workforce! What is really behind it? Were the employees only held up over the months?
"It is a setback for the entire region," explains Reni Richter, the district manager of IGBCE Lausitz. Not only have 100 jobs been dismantled a year and a half ago, now the next devastating wave is coming! How much privation can the people in Guben still endure?
Stephanie Albrecht-Suliak, the IGBCE state district manager, sees a dark strategy in this development: "This reads at the expense of the employees after a clear blow." And it is right - the months of hanging and then brutal intervention in the jobs raise enormous questions!
call to solidarity
The IGBCE not only calls for the employees, but also from their families and the people in Guben to defend themselves against this intolerable situation! "Let's put a sign together and fight for our rights!", The union calls for solidarity. Be there when it says on Monday: "We don't let ourselves be kept down!"
