In the night of Tuesday, a violent thunderstorm swept across Berlin and ensured numerous operations by the fire brigade. The consequences of the storm were still noticeable in the morning.
Around 1 a.m. a thunderstorm with many flashes pulled over the capital. While some people in some parts of Berlin were in a hurry to close their windows and then lie back to bed, the fire brigade had to move out in other places to combat fires.
A single-family house on Ahornallee in Berlin-Mahlsdorf was particularly affected. A flash hit the house and set the roof on fire. Thanks to the use of around 40 firefighters, it was possible to prevent the fire from spreading to the entire house.
It hit the residents of a house in Pechsteinstrasse in Berlin-Lichtenrade. At around 2 a.m., residents heard a loud bang when the roof of an apartment building was on fire on an area of around 250 square meters. Eight people were able to get to safety independently and luckily remained unharmed. The fire brigade fought against the fire with a total of 91 emergency services and also used two turntable ladder vehicles. However, the apartment building should be uninhabitable. The exact cause of the fire is currently still being determined by the police.
Despite the violent storm, the Berlin fire brigade recorded only eleven weather -related missions. The emergency services pumped full -running basements and eliminated fallen trees and fallen branches. Fortunately, nobody was injured. A spokesman for the fire brigade emphasized that no larger technical devices had to be used.
In the neighboring Brandenburg there were also consequences of the thunderstorm. In Briesensee in the Dahme-Spreewald district, three people were injured by a lightning strike. One of them was taken to the hospital seriously injured, the other two were cared for on site. More detailed information about the type and scope of the injuries were initially not published. In Senftenberg in the Hosena district, a shunting locomotive also collided with a tree died onto the tracks. Nobody was injured here. The tree was removed.
