Legal regulation of non -specialist investors in medical care centers: this is what the Federal Medical Association calls for

Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach has announced that it is introducing regulations for investor -supported medical care centers (IMVZ). Despite this announcement, nothing has happened so far. The current media reports on employee seminars of an investor-supported MVZ chain show what effects an unbridled profit greed can have and how it harms people's trust.

The Federal Medical Association warns of undesirable developments in the healthcare system through the influence of non -specialist financial investors and appeals to the legislator to introduce corresponding regulations to protect the patients.

Background of the problem is that non -specialist capital investors have discovered the health market for themselves and that medical care centers are founded by buying smaller hospitals. Often the goal is to generate high returns for investors by offering lucrative services and performing high performance.

The Federal Medical Association has developed specific proposals for formulation for a legal regulation in this area and sent the Federal Ministry of Health. The aim of these suggestions is to ensure that the well -being of the patient always has priority over commercial interests. The states of Bavaria, Schleswig-Holstein and Rhineland-Palatinate also brought a corresponding application to the Federal Council with the same direction.

So there is sufficient material for a comprehensive regulation. Now it is to Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach to follow his announcements and to get the necessary legal regulations on the way.

The positions of the Federal Medical Association to regulate medical care centers can be found in the table below:

Positions of the Federal Medical Association for the need for regulation for medical care centers
—————————————————————————-
Ensuring the patient well -being from commercial interests
Introduction of regulations to prevent undesirable developments in healthcare
Importance of the medical care centers as a supplement to outpatient care
Need for a legal regulation to strengthen people's trust

It remains to be seen whether and when Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach implements the announced regulations and thus makes an important contribution to ensuring high -quality patient care.
