Common line from France and Germany for Ukraine support: Expert demands new strategic dynamics

Stefanie Babst calls for a common line from France and Germany in supporting Ukraine. On the occasion of the state visit of the French President in Germany, the NATO expert Phoenix told the TV broadcaster Phoenix, hoping that Emmanuel Macron Chancellor Olaf Scholz could win over "a new strategic dynamic". "We support Ukraine in slices," said Babst. That put the country into a "very difficult location". "People die every day and I do not know how Mr. Scholz, who is obviously in the election campaign, can agree to say: He agrees with all these things, Germany does what it can do."

The diplomatic negotiations with Russia required at yesterday's citizens' festival in Berlin do not currently see Babst as a strategic option. One cannot have diplomatic conversations with one side that shoots "60 to 70 or even more rockets and drones with a fatal effect every day and deliberately terrorizes people," Babst continues. Putin has the choice of withdrawing his troops, but he doesn't. "This is a sign for me that he also deviates from his strategic intent to destroy Ukraine as a state in the middle of Europe, as our neighbors," Babst told Phoenix.

The statements by Stefanie Babst, a NATO expert, throw light on the continuing tensions between Russia and Ukraine. In particular, their appeal is aimed at Germany and France, so that both countries pursue a uniform line in their support from Ukraine. Ukraine is currently in a difficult location because, according to Babst's statement, it is supported "sliced", which leads to daily losses of human life.

Babst also expresses concerns about diplomatic negotiations with Russia, since the country continues to perform aggressive actions against Ukraine. It refers to rocket and drone attacks that take place every day and endanger human life. Babst emphasizes that Putin has the opportunity to withdraw his troops, but has not yet done so. This suggests that Putin continues to pursue his intention to destroy Ukraine as a state.

The current events also take a look at historical relationships between Russia and Ukraine. The two countries have a long history that is characterized by tensions and conflicts. War in Ukraine in particular since 2014 has led to considerable tensions between the two countries and the international community. The annexation of the Crimea by Russia and the subsequent conflicts in the east of Ukraine have led to an escalation of violence and numerous victims.

In order to give the reader a better overview of the current events and historical background, the following table could contain relevant information:

| Event | Year | Description |
| ———————————— |-- | ————————————————————— | Annexion of Crimea by Russia | 2014 | Russia annexes the Crimea, which leads to international convictions |
| Start of war in Ukraine | 2014 | Separatists in eastern Ukraine take control of cities and areas |
| Crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 | 2014 | A passenger plane is shot down above Ukraine |
| MINSK Agreement | 2014 | Agreements between the conflict parties to de -escalation the conflict |

The current appeals of Stefanie Babst emphasize the need for solid support from Ukraine and a uniform strategy between Germany and France. In view of the tense situation between Russia and Ukraine, it is important that international actors act together to find a solution to the conflict and to reduce the suffering of people in Ukraine.
