Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, congratulated the Foxes on this remarkable success. On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the team will be invited to the red town hall. There is a ceremonial greeting at the main portal, followed by an entry in the guest book of Berlin in the pillar hall. The coach Jaron Siewert, the youngest in the league at 31, impressively demonstrated team spirit, willingness to perform, fairness and respect, the values that should be held up in sporting competition.

The players and their services

The performance of Mathias Gidsel, who scored ten goals in the crucial game and set a record of 263 field goals in the crucial game, should be particularly noteworthy. Gidsel, who has already been elected world handball player of the year twice, has made a decisive contribution to winning the foxes. The team consists of a mixture of top international stars, German national players and talented players from Berlin. This also includes U-21 world champions such as Nils Lichtlein and Tim Freihöfer, who are now a international.

BOB HANNING, the creator of the team, described the championship title as a fulfillment of a "lifelong dream". The foxes won impressive eleven competitive games in a row, while they were able to win the direct comparison against their pursuers Magdeburg and Melsungen. In the Champions League semi-final, the foxes, which are known for their athletics and skill, are now opposite, while SC Magdeburg meets Barcelona.

three important milestones

The title of Foxes Berlin is also in the context of the rich history of handball in Germany, which began the founding of the German Handball Association (DHB) in 1949 and the introduction of indoor handball as an Olympic discipline in 1972. The beginnings of handball go back to October 29, 1917, when Max Heiser renamed the game "Torball" in "Handball" and the first official rules were determined. This development has laid the foundation for today's enthusiasm and the professional competition that we are now experiencing.

The Foxes Berlin not only won a title, but also wrote an important chapter in the history of German handball. Their success encourages the next generation of young players and shows how important teamwork and dedication are in sports. The fans can look forward to the coming season and the challenges in the Champions League.
