New parking space management in Kreuzberg: Everything you need to know!

New parking zones in Berlin Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg

The parking space management in Berlin Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg will be expanded by two new areas from October 1, 2024. The zones 63 "Graefekiez" and 67 "Oranienplatz" in Kreuzberg are then put into operation.

Annika Gerold, district councilor for transport, street and green spaces, order and environment, emphasizes the challenges in a densely populated district like Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. The limited areas in the public street country often lead to a competition for the limited parking spaces between the residents and visitors. The introduction of parking space management is to be relieved for residents and at the same time incentives for the use of public transport or bicycles are to be created.

The parking space management means that in the defined zones you may only park with a parking ticket or a parking permit. The regulatory office will guarantee compliance with the regulations through parking space controls.

Residents whose registration address is located in one of the new parking zones have the option of applying for a parking permit for this zone. This ID provides you with the obligation to acquire a parking ticket, but does not guarantee a fixed parking lot. The application for the parking permit can simply be made online.

Commuters and visitors who want to park during the management period have to acquire a parking ticket. This can be done either digitally and cashless via smartphone apps (such as www.smartparking.de) or at the parking ticket machine with cash.

If necessary, companies and comparable facilities within the zones can receive an exemption for an operating vignette for the parking of company -used vehicles. In addition, certain craft businesses have the option of applying for a craftsman park. Severely disabled people with a blue or orange parking permit can park free of charge within the zones, as can commuters restricted mobility.

All relevant information on the expansion of the parking zones and a comprehensive FAQ can be found on the website www.parkeninkreuzberg.de.

For residents, traders and interested people, a digital information event will take place on Thursday, July 10, at 5 p.m. Registration and further information about the access data are also available on the website.
