Reading of Nebelhorn-echos with Danny Ramadan in Berlin
District Mayor Clara Herrmann von Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg emphasized the importance of tolerance and diversity for the district on the occasion of the international week against racism. Racism, discrimination and hatred have no place there. In this context, the Syrian-Canadian author Danny Ramadan will present his novel "Nebelhorn-Echos" in the center library. This is about the tragic love story of two men between Damascus and Vancouver. In addition, the event "from the recruitment stop to Migration Society" takes place, which deals with the historical importance of the "recruitment stop" in 1973. The latter ended the recruitment of workers and still shaped the discussions and legislation on migration and belonging. Migrants then built up organizations and institutions that promote self -organization, community and solidarity.
The event includes an intergenerational dialogue for anti-racist fights and a lecture performance with music and poetry. It closes with music by DJ Aziza A., Germany's first Turkish-German rapper and singer. In addition, the reading club "Black Dads Readers" is offered for families with black children.
