Long week of neighborhood history: City tours in Berlin discover city in change

Die „Lange Woche der Kiezgeschichte“ in Berlin lädt in diesem Jahr unter dem Motto „Stadt im Wandel“ dazu ein, unbekannte und ungewöhnliche Geschichten der Stadt zu entdecken. Im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltung bietet das FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum verschiedene Stadtrundgänge an, die zu historischen Orten in den Bezirken führen. Der erste Stadtrundgang mit dem Thema „Migrantische Selbstorganisation gegen Rassismus und Faschismus“ führt die Teilnehmer am Kottbusser Tor durch Kreuzberg, einen Ort mit einer langen Geschichte von Migration und Selbstorganisation. Long week of neighborhood history: City tours in Berlin discover city in change

The "Long week of neighborhood history" in Berlin invites you to discover unknown and unusual stories of the city under the motto "City in Change" this year. As part of this event, the FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum offers various city tours that lead to historical places in the districts.

The first city tour with the topic "Migrant self -organization against racism and fascism" leads the participants in the Kottbusser Tor through Kreuzberg, a place with a long history of migration and self -organization. Places of resistance to racism and fascism are explored. This tour will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. The meeting point is the garden of the FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg Museum.

The second tour of the city with the title "The 17th June 1953 in Friedrichshain" is devoted to the popular uprising in the GDR 71 years ago. The route leads to biographical and geographical reference points around the former Stalinallee in Friedrichshain. This city tour will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 5 p.m. and starts at Frankfurter Tor.

The third city tour "Kraftwerk, Piano Pest and Kohlberg. A Kreuzberg's consumption and environmental history" treats the environmental history of Kreuzberg and addresses the interactions between people and the environment. This tour on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 1.30 p.m., takes the participants on a journey through the history of housekeeping, consumption and environmental protection in Berlin. The meeting point is the corner of Ohlauer Straße/Paul-Linke-Ufer.
