35 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Berlin districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg are closely together, although they were separated from the wall from 1961 to 1989. But how did the neighborhoods develop during this time and how did the residents experience the division of the city? The Berlin Commissioner for dealing with the SED dictatorship (BAB) in his event series "My neighborhood History (s) of the shared Berlin". The event takes place in Kreuzberg in June.

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 6 p.m. historian Anna von Arnim-Rosenthal, head of the East Side Gallery, Berlin Wall Foundation, and the contemporary witnesses Bettina Rathenow and Sanem Kleff invite you to a skip interview with public participation in the FHXB Museum in Adalbertstraße 95a, 10999 Berlin. Bettina Rathenow was a co -founder of the opposition group "Women for Peace" in the GDR and 1989/90 participant in the round table in Friedrichshain. Sanem Kleff, a Turkish -born teacher, worked from 1981 at a secondary school in Kreuzberg and today heads the project "School without Racism - School with Courage". The conversation is made by BAB speaker Dr. Philipp Schultheiß moderated.

The event is free of charge and in German. Access to the event location is wheelchair accessible. Registrations will be requested at viriensungen@aufganchung-berlin.de.
