Together against violence: flag for women's rights in Friedrichshain
On November 25th, the international day against violence is celebrated worldwide. But the reality in Germany is alarming: the latest federal government analysis shows a worrying increase in this violence. Femicide is committed almost daily in the Federal Republic, and shocking a woman is a victim of domestic violence every three minutes. A wake -up call for all of us!
In order to set a clear sign, district mayor Clara Herrmann raised the flag against violence against women in front of the Friedrichshain town hall. A powerful symbol that indicates the urgent problem that is anchored in our society.
a new approach in the district
In order to counteract the steadily growing problem, a round table is launched in the district, led by the equal opportunities officer. The aim of this initiative is to develop a solidarity strategy that improves the aid system for those affected by violence. Because every affected woman and every affected girl has the right to support and security!
District Mayor Clara Herrmann unmistakably commented: "Violence against women and girls runs through all parts of our society. A woman or girl in Germany experiences domestic violence every three minutes. This is unbearable. The current numbers are alarming and have to lead to structural changes."
These words call us not only to watch, but to actively act. The time for change has come!
