In a spectacular commitment, the Berlin police and the public prosecutor searched two apartments in Marzahn and Rudow today, and were directed against three suspects for bribery. At the center of the investigation is a 38-year-old employee of the state office for naturalization, which is accused of illegally naturalizing a family from Northern Macedonia on April 15, 2025. According to the indictment, he is said to have created fake naturalization certificates, signed them with a wrong name and even misused the seal of his authority.

The whole thing becomes dramatic by suspicion of a love relationship between the civil servant and the naturalized woman, who is considered the possible motive for the deeds. Two members of the family, a 39-year-old and a 36-year-old, are also suspected of being involved in bribing. During the searches, the investigators found valuable evidence, including electronic storage media, which are now evaluated, while the case is further examined.
