Berlin: Free consultations and services for seniors in meeting places

In a press release of June 18, 2024, it is announced that the citizens' office, the Office for Social Affairs and the Housing Office will offer free consultations and services as part of the 50th Berlin Senior Week. Under the motto "Design the future together", mobile consultation hours are organized in order to get closer to the citizens, especially those who cannot avoid personally due to their age or health reasons. The campaign is initially planned as a unique event, but can be repeated at regular intervals depending on the interest and demand.

The deputy district mayor Oliver Nöll said positively about the planned initiative and also referred to the “Digital-Zebra” project of the Berlin libraries. At 17 locations, trained digital slots will support senior citizens in using digital services. In addition, workshops are planned to deepen digital skills and promote digital participation. This offer of the digital slots will be available on the appointments on June 24th and 25th.

The services offered include consultations on topics such as basic security, free certification from powers of powers and the direct application for a new ID card. The employees of the district office will implement these services on three different appointments without prior registration directly on site.

The appointments for the mobile office hours are planned as follows:
- Monday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Gitschiner Straße
meeting place - Tuesday, June 25th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Falckensteinstraße
meeting place - Thursday, June 27th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the meeting place zest for life

This initiative shows the commitment of the district office to offer the local services accessible to the local services and to support the older population in particular to become digital fit. An important step to bridge the digital gap and promote participation in social life.
