Freiberg cycles for security: Tour de Traffic turns inspires participants
Freiberg.
On August 22, 2023, Freiberg experienced a special moment as part of the "Tour de Verkehrswende", a passionately organized bicycle demonstration of the "Changing Cities" association. This tour, which extends over 13 stages from Eisenach to Berlin, has set itself the goal of drawing attention to the importance of safe cycle and footpaths as well as sustainable mobility. An initiative that is of central importance today, since more and more people are dependent on environmentally friendly means of transport.
Around 30 committed participants reached the Freiberg Obermarkt around 3 p.m. and were warmly received by a large number of local supporters. The mood was festive and the participants were motivated to spread their messages. After an inspiring greeting, the cyclists went on a symbolic drive along Chemnitzer Straße to the university sports field. This route should focus on the urgent need for secure and well -developed bike paths in Freiberg.
demands for safe traffic routes
While the cyclists moved through the city, it was more than just a demonstration; It was a united rebellion for safer and more sustainable traffic planning. The participants hoped to stimulate a dialogue about improving the infrastructure in Freiberg through their action. It became clear that the need for safe bike paths is of serious importance not only for cyclists themselves, but also for pedestrians and other road users.
In the evening, the participants summed up their experiences and ideas in the multi -generation house "Colorful House" during a joint discussion round. Here the cyclists and local representatives reflect on approaches how mobility in Freiberg can be made more environmentally friendly. A crucial point in the conversations was the security and special needs of children, adolescents and the elderly in everyday life that are particularly in need of protection in road traffic.
an order to politics
An additional program item of the event was a travel lecture that gave insights into the previous stages of the tour. The "Tour de Verkehrswende" takes place for the fourth time and has collected numerous valuable suggestions for improving transport policy on its way through Thuringia, Saxony and Brandenburg. These ideas and demands will be presented to the Federal Ministry of Transport in Berlin on August 30th and should point out the urgent need for a comprehensive turnover of traffic.
With their committed actions, the "Tour de Verkehrswende" sets a strong sign for all pedestrians and cyclists. The participants not only hope for improvements in their city, but also a rethink in the entire traffic world in order to create a more environmentally friendly future for everyone. The mobility of tomorrow must be safe, sustainable and accessible to everyone.
