Fei fire devil in Neukölln: cars burn to the rims!
The police in Neukölln were alerted on the night of June 13, 2025 for a vehicle fire. At around 1:25 a.m., residents reported a striking smell of fire and flames on several cars in Sülzhayner Straße. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire quickly, but found that two vehicles, a VW and an Opel, were completely burned out. In addition, three other cars, including an Audi, one Hyundai and another Opel, were badly damaged. A tree in between and the wall of an adjacent house also suffered considerable damage. According to initial knowledge, the fire from the VW could have spread to the other vehicles. The fire commissioner of the State Criminal Police Office then started investigations into suspected arson, as reported.
These incidents are related to a series of car fires in Berlin that have increased in recent months. According to RBB24, several vehicle fires recently appeared in the districts of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Neukölln Approaches are attributed. In one of these nights, several high -quality cars burned, including two completely in flames, while another vehicle in Kreuzberg was damaged by the heat. The police also use specialist commissioners to get to the bottom of the numerous fires.

In 2023, a total of 575 car fires were registered in Berlin, which corresponds to an average of eleven fires per week. The districts of Mitte with 91 cases, Marzahn-Hellersdorf with 89 cases and Neukölln with 84 cases were particularly affected. Last year the number of car fires was 578, while in 2021 it even reached 708. According to RBB24, the number of arson at cars in 2024 was around 750, which means an increase compared to previous years.
The causes of the car brandies are complex. A large part of these arsonists fall into apolitical categories such as vandalism, insurance fraud or personal motives. About 429 of the registered cases were recorded under these motifs. Politically motivated arson, on the other hand, only made up a small part, with 58 cases being attributed to extremist ideologies.
The police have already found suspects in part of the cases, both in the apolitical and politically motivated segments. Nevertheless, the investigative work remains challenging because the perpetrators cannot be determined in many cases.
