Firefighters stops S-Bahn: Chaos on the ring railway in Berlin!

Landsberger Allee, 10367 Berlin, Deutschland - On Ascension Thursday, May 29, 2025, S-Bahn traffic in Berlin was severely affected due to a fire service. Around 1.30 p.m. there was a fault on the ring railway line between the S-Bahn stations in Frankfurter Allee and Greifswalder Straße. The affected lines S41, S42, S8 and S85 were immediately affected. The fire of garbage in the track bed below the road bridge at Landsberger Allee's S-Bahn station did not allow the emergency services to wait long. As reported [rbbb24] (https://www.rbb24.de/partiu/2025/05/feuerwehr Einze-berlin-landsberger-allee-Ringbahn-änter.html), the power supply for the trains had to be switched off, which required an immediate interruption of train traffic.

The fire brigade quickly became on site and used a fire truck to extinguish the fire. The fire was quickly under control in the track bed, but the situation required a blocking of S-Bahn traffic, which ends around 2.30 p.m. During this time, passengers were asked to use alternative routes via the BVG means of transport, in particular tram lines at the stations of Frankfurter Allee and Greifswalder Straße and the U5 subway line from Frankfurter Allee, such as Berlin-Live informed. However, it was pointed out that despite the resumption of the company, follow -up delays could be expected.

consequential damage and further

The return to the normalcy for the S-Bahn lines did not come without obstacles. There were reports on subsequent delays and possible failures, especially since the ring railway initially ran every 10 minutes. This caused considerable inconvenience among the travelers. The affected S-Bahn lines had previously been completely blocked for around an hour, which caused a considerable backlog in the entire transport network.

As was also known today, there was another incident in the morning of the same day at the Rummelburg S-Bahnhof. There a man fell into the track due to alcohol and was hit by a train. The fire brigade freed the person under the train and took them to a hospital. This incident also led to the interruption of local and long-distance traffic for about an hour, in which around 80 travelers had to be evacuated, such as t-online. The investigation into this incident continues.
