Holidays in the city: like three Syrian girls spend their summer vacation in Berlin

Title: Holidays in Berlin: A family enjoys the time at home

A visit to the White Lake was the highlight of the summer vacation for Lelian. Together with her dad, she bathed there and bought sweets there. Although she was a bit of afraid of the water, it was the most beautiful moment of summer for her. A lido with sand! That was probably the longest journey that Lelian did this year.

There are children in Berlin who spend the entire summer in the city. While others travel with their parents, go to the holiday camp or leave to their grandparents, they stay at home. Often these families simply lack money to go on trips to the area or to the Baltic Sea. But for Lelian and her sisters, time at home does not necessarily mean boredom.

Lelian sits on the big couch in the living room and her two sisters are also there. As always, she giggles and Lelian's sister talks the most in the family. The youngest sister keeps asking if she can say anything else. Naea is nine years old and Rinad is five. You won't travel this summer. They spend their six -week summer vacation just like the other holidays in Berlin.

Nevertheless, you have a good time at home. They were already on a water playground and were allowed to go to bed late because there is no school. A classmate recently played a visit to you. Naea likes to play Minecraft on the tablet and uses a learning app called Anton to practice a little German or math.

Even if it is sometimes boring, the girls enjoy their vacation at home. You bring your plush toys into the living room, paint and draw. Her parents, Duaaa Almania and Mohamad Al Mogarbel, watch the three girls with joy. The family comes from Homs in Syria and has lived in Berlin for five years. They recently moved into their first own apartment.

Before that, they had lived in a refugee home in Hohenschönhausen. Now you have a lot more space in your new home in Marzahn. They like the surroundings and the father often goes for a walk with his daughters. The parents have taken out extra time to spend the holiday season together with their children. You don't want your daughters to spend the entire holiday in the after -school care center or in the daycare center.

Although the grandparents are still in Syria and the girls can only see them via video calls, the topic of vacation does not seem to be so important for them. Lelian would like to travel, but they don't have a passport. Her mother mentions softly that one day you could travel to Spain or Italy one day. But at the moment they enjoy the time with the family at home.

pictures that the girls painted, a glittering lip gloss and sweets are the memories that they will bring from their vacation. Lelian tells with laughter how she eaten so much ice cream in one day that she got bellyache. The school will soon begin and Lelian will certainly have a lot to tell about her vacation.
