European Parliament: Reform for better patient care required
A true sensation in the health sector! The European Parliament has triggered a cry for change today with an overwhelming majority: the revision of the Medical Device Ordinance (MDR). MEPs urgently demand from the European Commission to reform the complex rules for medical devices in the EU from scratch and thus focus on patient care. This requirement finds strong support from Pharma Germany, the mighty industry association, which presents clear measures in order to ensure the innovative strength of the pharmaceutical industry and to close critical care gaps.
"The current regulation suffocates innovation and creates massive hurdles that manufacturers have showered when they think of investments in the European market," explains Dorothee Brakmann, the strong voice of Pharma Germany. "We now need more quickly and practical changes to ensure efficient and safe patient care throughout the EU!" The expectations are high: the association calls on the European Commission to submit specific suggestions for the MDR reform within the first 100 days after taking office. It is time to reduce the bureaucratic effort and to make the European market more attractive for manufacturers!
urgency of the reform
Pharma Germany does not stand by and not on the sidelines - they have developed a comprehensive proposal to change the MDR. The urgency of a rapid reform is clear: This is the only way to guarantee patient care and at the same time the market access can be made easier. The focus of the demands is five central points that are clearly addressed to the industry. Every detail counts when it comes to setting the course for better medical care!
