Early floral splendor on Brandenburg heath areas
An unusually warm spring and regular rain have led to the heather bloom in Brandenburg started earlier than usual. The purple flower splendor attracts visitors to the Heinz Sielmann Foundation, the Naturwacht Brandenburg and the Wilderness Foundation, which offer all different ways to experience the Heide on your own or on guided tours.
The Brandenburg Heath is an impressive natural spectacle that inspires every summer with its extensive purple flower carpets. However, few know that Brandenburg is the state with the largest heather area in Germany.
A highlight is the Kyritz-Ruppiner Heide between Wittstock and Neuruppin, which is one of the most important heath areas in Europe. Nature conservation is of great importance here, since the 12,700 hectare area is not crossed by streets or settlements. Although large parts of the landscape were previously used as a bomb dropping area and are still closed due to ammunition load, visitors can explore the protected 4,000 hectares in the southern part of the Heide on the 14 -kilometer Heide adventure path between Neuglienicke, Pfalzheim and Rossow. From the 15-meter-high heather tower on the Heinz-Sielmann-Hügel there is a breathtaking panoramic view of the blooming heath landscape.
Another possibility for nature enthusiasts in Berlin and the surrounding area is the Döberitzer Heide, which is located just behind the western city limits. From the parking lot of the Döberitzer Heide nature experience center in Elstal, it is only a few steps to the first flowering Heidisesbuuchers. There are nature trails and forest paths that invite you to walks. A 24 -kilometer circular route around the core zone of the nature reserve is available for longer hiking tours. In the nature experience center there is also a free exhibition that provides information about the different habitats and the richness of species.
The Lieberose wilderness area, supervised by the Naturlandschafts Brandenburg Foundation - the Wildnis Foundation, is another area that attracts visitors. Here you can observe the emerging wilderness and use barrier -free ways to discover the species -rich habitats and their inhabitants such as the crop floors or various types of butterflies.
The Jüterbog wilderness area also offers varied landscapes and developing heath landscapes. Visitors can explore typical pine forests, pagans and newly created wilderness. There are various circular hiking trails and opportunities for picnic with wonderful views.
In addition, the Naturwacht Brandenburg offers guided tours for heather bloom. On August 17th, visitors can experience the sunset over the heath areas in the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft nature park. On August 18, the Heide will be presented in more detail in the FFH area "Forst Zinna/Keilberg" as a survival room for animal and plant species and their adaptations to life on sand. On August 22nd and 24th, visitors can take part in a carriage ride through the flowering heath in the Uckermärkische Lakes Nature Park.
The heather bloom in Brandenburg is a beautiful natural spectacle that starts this year thanks to the mild spring and regular precipitation earlier than usual. The Heinz Sielmann Foundation, the Naturwacht Brandenburg and the Wildernis Foundation offer visitors various options for experiencing the purple bloom and discovering the unique nature of this state.
