Eine temporäre Schulstraße wurde von Mitte April bis Mitte Mai vor der Bruno-H.-Bürgel-Grundschule in Lichtenrade eingerichtet. A temporary school road was set up in front of the Bruno-H. Bürgel primary school in Lichtenrade from mid-April to mid-May. The aim of the project was to equalize car traffic in front of the school and to improve the safety of the children on their way to school. Especially the cars of the parents who wanted to take their children to the school gate led to a chaotic traffic situation. After the project was carried out, traffic councilor Saskia Ellenbeck (Greens), school councilor Tobias Dollase (non -party/for the CDU) and the school community were drawn a positive conclusion. The TU Berlin scientifically evaluated the project and the parents' traffic stories were analyzed. A total of 773 questionnaires were distributed and evaluated.

The results showed that 63 percent of parents, 78 percent of residents and 89 percent of school employees found the project good or very good. In addition, 35 percent of the parents, 71 percent of residents and 57 percent of the school staff stated that traffic safety has increased or even reinforced. According to the district office, car traffic has not shifted to the back entrance and the number of cyclists has increased.

School City Councilor Dollase was pleased that the blocking of car traffic in front of the school could be made more secure for the children. However, attention to the topic should not let up. Both headmaster Jens Otte and parenthood continue to work at the state and federal level for suitable legal framework conditions and support in order to make the environment of primary schools permanently safer.

The article offers an insight into the pilot project of a temporary school road in front of the Bruno-H. Bürgel primary school in Lichtenrade. The aim was to equalize car traffic and to improve the safety of the children on their way to school. The results of the evaluation show that the project was positively evaluated by the majority of parents, residents and school workers and led to a strengthening of traffic safety.
