A ticket for everyone: Robin Wood demands socially friendly mobility

angry protest against the 49 euro ticket! Robin Wood raises the voice and demands a revolution in local public transport! In a moving open letter to the transport miners of the federal states, the environmentalists set a strong sign: the ticket must not become more expensive! Next Monday (September 23, 2024) will be decided in a special meeting of the Minister of Transport Conference on the fate of the ticket - and Robin Wood is on site to exert pressure!

All week, activists with strong banners and clear messages at train stations in cities such as Staufen, Stuttgart and Berlin will be shown. Under the motto "A ticket for everyone! Solidarity - affordable - climatic right" do not take a leaf out of your mouth. Photos and videos of the protests reach social media in no time - their goal: a socially compatible climate for all citizens!

shocking numbers about subsidies

But the situation is precarious! "An expensive Germany ticket is only attractive for commuters. The original function of the ticket is lost," warns Annika Fuchs, mobility officer at Robin Wood. For many people, the use of public transport becomes intolerable. In her argument, she calls for a comprehensive expansion of public transport while deleting environmentally harmful subsidies, which amount to a horrendous 35 billion euros annually - 25 billion euros alone are not available to the traffic sector!

  • "The company car privilege, cheap flight petrol and the VAT exemption on international flights are climate -damaging subsidies that deepen social split," says Fuchs and clarifies: "These injustices must have an end!"

The outrageous review of the 9-euro ticket, which was introduced as an important step towards financial relief, shows that politics has not recognized the signs of the times! Instead, the 49-euro ticket was introduced in 2023, the financing of which is only secured by the end of 2024. A nationwide uniform social ticket remains an unfulfilled dream.

an urgent appeal for climatic mobility

"Despite the progressive climate crisis and the tireless efforts of climate protesters as well as in global climate strike, politics does far too little for a social-ecological change," explains Ems Brinkmann, a committed activist by Robin Wood. "We now need determined investments in the nationwide expansion of local public transport to enable climate -friendly mobility for everyone!"

If you don't act, you fall by the wayside! Robin Wood determines a future-proof mobility and makes it clear: The 49-euro ticket is not the end, but the beginning of a long and necessary struggle for social justice in traffic!
