The world mourned and celebrates at the same time - Leonard Cohen, the Canadian master of melancholy, would have celebrated his 90th birthday this year! An artist who moved generations with his profound texts and his distinctive voice. But now the famous singer-songwriter is put back in the spotlight!
The ARD podcast "So Long, Cohen" will be available in the ARD Audiothek from Saturday, September 21st. A must list for all of his fans and music enthusiasts who want to get to know the man behind the unforgettable hits such as "Hallelujah", "Suzanne" and "So Long, Marianne". The two talented authors Diviam Hoffmann and Denise Fernholz take us on an acoustic journey through Cohen's moving life and the reasons for his artistic triumph!

What made this man, who once started as a writer, one of the most influential musicians in the world? At the age of just 25, Cohen wrote to his publisher that he wanted to achieve the "introverted youngsters, lovers in all stages of the pain, disappointed platonists, porn-gucker, monks and loyalty to the papst". And he did that! He spoke about millions of hearts and related words to music that not only heard, but can be felt. His lyrics describe a life full of challenges and self -doubt - a feeling of life that many can understand today.
The journalists Hoffmann and Fernholz put light into the shade of this complexity in five captivating episodes. "The moment when you hug everything and tell you: Look, I don't understand anything - Hallelujah!" - These words of Cohen itself are an urgent memory of the challenges of self -acceptance, which are still so relevant today.
