Deutsche Telekom contradicts Höcke's false statement - legal steps checked.
Deutsche Telekom has vigorously reacted to a false assertion by the AfD politician Björn Höcke regarding an alleged earlier advertising slogan of the company and is examining legal steps. In a TV duel with the CDU politician Mario Voigt, Höcke claimed that Telekom had used the slogan "Everything for Germany" some time ago as an advertising saying. Telekom decisively rejected this claim by explaining that this statement was untrue and stated that it would take legal action.
The sentence "Everything for Germany" in question is a prohibited solution of the Sturm Department (SA), the paramilitary fighting organization of the NSDAP. Because of the fact that Höcke is said to have used the slogan in a speech, he will be in court in the coming week before the district court in Halle to answer for the accusation of the use of indicators.
It is not the first time that Deutsche Telekom is doing false statements in the political ranks. Last year, the company had already taken measures against AfD federal spokeswoman Alice Weidel after also claiming that Telekom had used the sentence in question as an advertising saying. Telekom had asked Weidel to refrain this wrong claim, whereupon it agreed to leave this in the future.
Höcke, who works as a history teacher, defended his use of the controversial sentence in the TV duel and claimed that at the time of the speech he did not know that it was a SA slogan. He described the sentence as a "common saying". Telekom continues to remain in its rejection of the claims and takes legal action to act against the spread of false information.
