The fact check on biodiversity: a look at Germany's biodiversity
shocking revelations about biodiversity in Germany! The "Fact Check Biodiversity" has just brought the shocking facts to light that threaten the future of our nature! Over 150 scientists: inside from 75 institutions have worked on this monumental project, which shows the alarming situation of our biodiversity. Led by Prof. Dr. Christian Feld from the Aquatic Biology of the University of Duisburg-Essen, has evaluated a committed team of 17 experts: inside over 700 literature sources. On September 30, 2024, these terrifying results were presented in Berlin.
The alarming data leave no doubt: biodiversity shrinks at a frightening pace! A third of all kinds in Germany are at risk, three percent have already been lost forever. This comprehensive inventory clearly shows that the survival of many types is in danger of what catastrophic consequences could have for the function and performance of our valuable ecosystems.
What are the central results?
The numbers speak for themselves! Prof. Dr. Field and his team have urged the harmful influences that threaten biodiversity. "Pollution, invasive species and climate change are just a few of the problems we have identified," explains the scientist. It became clear that our actions had a decisive impact on biodiversity. Without immediate measures, the loss of biodiversity could not only endanger the environment, but also our health and quality of life!
- threat to a third of all kinds!
- over 700 literature sources examined - the truth is exposed!
- A dramatic decline in vertebrates, invertebrates and microorganisms!
How can we stop the loss of biodiversity?
The message is clear: measures must be taken! Prof. Dr. Field emphasizes: "To ensure ecosystem services such as carbon storage and flood protection, we have to protect biodiversity!" He refers to concrete starting points, such as the return of fluids for the natural flood dynamics and the re -interlocking of bogs that could be essential to save climate -damaging carbon dioxide.
"These effective measures are available to us, but it often fails due to political will," says Feld. Action is required here - time is pushing!
