After a breakdown on a train between Berlin and Hanover, all passengers, except for two wheelchair users, were able to change. Deutsche Bahn has now apologized to the people concerned. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when an ICE remained in Nennhausen due to a technical defect. Most travelers were able to leave the train after a while and continue their journey on a different train. However, the two wheelchair users and their accompanying person had to stay in the defective train.

The problem was that the regional train station in Nennhausen did not have a lift that would have made it possible for wheelchair users to leave the train. The Lower Saxony SPD member of the state parliament Constantin Grosch, one of the affected passengers, drew attention to this on Twitter. Upon request, the railway said that its own regulations and insurance reasons had made it impossible to help wheelchair users in other ways. The defective train finally went to Stendal, where the employees under Grosch's instructions used a lift to get the passengers out of the train.

Deutsche Bahn has now officially apologized to the passengers concerned. In a statement, the company announced that the descriptions of the passengers were taken as an opportunity to check the processes with regard to the needs of passengers reduced by mobility. Furthermore, the railway apologized for the resulting situation.

for Constantin Grosch and his fellow travelers, the breakdown meant a delay of about two hours compared to the other stranded passengers. Grosch also criticized this on Twitter. In its statement, however, the railway did not comment on the reasons for the delay in helping for wheelchair users.

This new breakdown in the long -distance traffic of Deutsche Bahn once again raises questions about accessibility and dealing with passengers restricted mobility. The railway now promises to analyze the incidents and improve their processes accordingly in order to avoid such problems in the future.
