GDR Museum in Döberitz: Collection with 40,000 objects, including Trabi and washing machine, auction

in the GDR Museum in Döberitz near Premnitz, Eastern Algics can become nostalgic. Two collectors have exhibited around 40,000 objects there, including a trabi, dice games and washing machines. The collectors, West German Manfred Hüsges and East German Peter Fold, had met over the Internet. Together they planned to present their collections in a museum and found the right building in a former restaurant in Döberitz thirteen years ago.

The pensioner Hüsges moved to the small village and lived over the museum. The collection opened in 2012 and admission cost five euros. But in 2015 Hüsges and his heirs died not interested in the collection. Now the museum, including the house and property in the auction house Historia in Tempelhof, is auctioned.

A highlight of the collection is an original Barka's patient van, which was approved in 1987 and had only one previous owner: the State Specialist Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurology Mühlhausen. The patient transporter has 92,869 kilometers on the speedometer and was estimated by an expert at 14,500 euros. A total of 14 vehicles, including Trabis, Barkas and Transporter, are auctioned. The starting price for all objects is 100 euros each.

In addition to the vehicles, books and toys are also auctioned. This includes three showcases with toys from the 1950s to 1980s, including a children's Dia projector, a cable car, remote-controlled toy cars, board and dice games, puzzles, a Morsegerer and a functional children's description engine Bambino Omega Leipzig. In the other showcases there are military toys, books, UFO toys, construction boxes and model trains with accessories.

If you want to remind you again, you have the opportunity to visit the collection in the museum on August 24th and 25th. The preliminary tour takes place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The auction can also be persecuted and participated online.
