In autumn 2024, the renowned author: Interior forum "The Blue Sofa" will present a variety of events in Frankfurt, Berlin, Gütersloh and Luxembourg. The blue sofa has been offering a platform for personalities from literature, culture, politics and society on which you can present your latest books to a wide audience for 24 years. This year there are special innovations and additions to the program. For the first time, the blue sofa will take place as part of the literary program of the Jewish Kulturtage Berlin, which is a great opportunity to experience unique literature and strong stories.
The events in autumn will take place at proven event locations and new locations. The blue sofa opens the program with a special event in Berlin to welcome the guest of honor of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024, Italy. The Italian author: Inside Viola Ardone, Marco Balzano and Igiaba Scego will present their current books. Ariane Binder and Thomas Böhm take over the moderation. This event is designed in cooperation with the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Italian publisher Association and the Italian embassy Berlin.
Another special event takes place as part of the Jewish Kulturtage Berlin. The blue sofa will be a guest in the literary tent on Bebelplatz and the author: Inside Stephan Abarbanell, Hannah Brinkmann, Sara Klatt, Lana Lux and Marko Martin. These conversations are moderated by Christine Watty and Marie-Christine Knop. The Jewish cultural days take place in September 2024 and are designed by the Jewish community of Berlin.
The blue sofa will also be a guest at the Luxembourg Institut Pierre Werner. The Romanian-Swiss author Dana Grigorcea will present her new novel "The weight of a bird while flying". The conversation is moderated by the Luxembourg author and literary critic Samuel Hamen. This event is organized in cooperation with the Institut Pierre Werner.
In Frankfurt am Main, the Blue Sofa Open Books, the reading festival for the Frankfurt Book Fair, will open. The author is a guest: Inside Anna Katharina Hahn, Christoph Peters as well as the archaeologist Harald Meller and the historian and literary scholar Kai Michel. The blue sofa in Frankfurt is organized by Bertelsmann together with the Kulturamt Frankfurt am Main and the German National Library.
The autumn events end with a reading by Melanie Raabe in Gütersloh. The bestselling author will present her new novel "The longest sleep". Melanie Raabe has already received several awards and her novels have been translated into 22 languages. The blue sofa in Gütersloh is made possible by Bertelsmann as part of the cultural sponsorship in the city, and the Gütersloh Theater is the organizer.
The blue sofa has been one of the most successful literature formats in German -speaking countries since its foundation in 2000. Over 3,100 authors have already presented their new books here. The format is designed by Bertelsmann in cooperation with various partners and has already welcomed many prominent guests.
