Am Dienstag, den 14. Mai, wird die Gleichstellungs- und Queerbeauftragte Katrin Lück gemeinsam mit weiteren Vertretern, darunter die Bezirksbürgermeisterin Kirstin Bauch und Bezirksamtsmitglieder, die Regenbogenflagge vor dem Rathaus Charlottenburg hissen. On Tuesday, May 14th, Katrin Lück's equality and queer representative will be the rainbow flag in front of the Charlottenburg town hall. This is done on the occasion of the 156th birthday and 89th anniversary of the death of Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld, as well as the international day against homo-, bi-, inter- and transthobia (Idahobit) on May 17th. On Tuesday, May 14th, Katrin Lück, together with other representatives, will be the rainbow flag in front of the Charlottenburg town hall. This is done on the occasion of the 156th birthday and 89th anniversary of the death of Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld, as well as the international day against homo-, bi-, inter- and transthobia (Idahobit) on May 17th.

The Idahobit has been celebrated since 2005 and is reminiscent of May 17, 1990 when the World Health Organization strikes homosexuality from its diagnostic key for diseases. This day is intended to draw attention to the removal of discrimination, violence and rejection of lesbians, gays, transpersonen, bisexual and queer.

The rainbow flag is also being raised from 14 to 18 May 2024 in front of the office building on Hohenzollerndamm.

In this context, it is important to the historical meaning of Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld. He was a German sex scientist, doctor and co -founder of the modern homosexual movement. Hirschfeld already campaigned for the rights of homosexual people in the 19th and 20th centuries and founded the "Institute for Sexual Science" in Berlin, among other things.

The rainbow flag in front of the Charlottenburg town hall not only marks an active contribution to the visualization and acceptance of LGBTQ+persons, but also honors the legacy of Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld and the fight against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
