Ludwig-Barnay-Platz in Wilmersdorf: redesign and redesign on the way

The Ludwig-Barnay-Platz in Wilmersdorf will be redesigned in the coming months. The first construction work begins with the felling of eleven trees that are dead or undercut. Furthermore, shrubs are cleared. In the course of the redesign, 15 trees are resolved, of which six fruit trees, three pastures and six roof supervisors take place. The further construction work begins due to the weather at the end of January/early February.

The redesign of the entire square includes the implementation of the playground from the middle of the square towards Laubenheimer Straße. A fenced in-house, large lawn with adjacent sand playground is created. The playground has the subject of art, theater and literature, based on the artist settlement, which was bordered by Ludwig-Barnay-Platz and was founded in the late 1920s. Many climbing options, slides and a water point will be created, as well as resting options such as hammocks. The entire road and space are renewed with a water-bound path blanket. Furthermore, a boules system bordered by roof levels is created. The work will last about six months.

The redesign of the Ludwig Barnay Square in Wilmersdorf will bring extensive changes in the coming months. The felling of eleven dead or underneath trees as well as the new planting of 15 trees, including fruit trees, pastures and roof supervisors, are part of the first phase of construction. The redesign also includes the relocation of the playground and the creation of a large lawn with playground, which is inspired by art, theater and literature. The entire road and space are renewed and a boules system will be added. The redesign is expected to take about six months and the first construction work should begin at the end of January or early February.

The artist settlement, which was bordered and founded in the 1920s, has a rich historical importance for the area. The topics, theater and literature of the newly designed playground are therefore a homage to the history of the location.

In order to better illustrate the planned changes, a table with further details on the new plantings and the planned construction phases is listed below:

| Type of trees | Number |
| ——————— | ———- |
| Fruit trees | 6 |
| Weiden | 3 |
| Roof plane | 6 |

The first construction work that begins with the felling of trees will certainly have an impact on the residents and visitors of the Ludwig Barnay Square. However, the redesign will lead to a more attractive and functional place in the long term that will enrich community life in Wilmersdorf.
