Memorial for the Remembrance Day in Berlin: British message invites you to the traditional event on November 12, 2023.

Next Sunday, November 12, 2023, the traditional commemoration of the Commonwealth countries in Berlin will take place on the Remembrance Day. District City Councilor Arne Herz will take part in the commemoration, which is organized by the British embassy. The event begins at 9:45 a.m. in the soldier's cemetery in Berlin (War Cemetery) at Heerstraße 139 and is completed by an ecumenical service in St. George’s Anglican Church at 11 a.m.

The British soldier cemetery in Berlin is the resting place of more than three and a half thousand, mainly young soldiers from the Commonwealth countries, including British, Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, Indians, South Africans, Poland and unknown nationality. Many of the soldiers buried here fell in the air combat over Berlin. The annual commemoration serves to commemorate the fallen soldiers of the First World War and is an important event for the involved countries of the Commonwealth

As a citizen of Berlin, it is important to us not to forget the history and victims of the war. Participation in the commemoration is an opportunity to show our appreciation and recognition for those who have given their lives in the service of their country.
